FEDERER WINS AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2010

Federer has beaten Andy Murray in straight sets in the 2010 Australian Open final. Federer beat Murray 6-3 6-4 7-6(11) to clinch his 16 Grand Slam title, his 4th Australian Open and his 1st Grand Slam as a father!

The match started out pretty good for Federer. He held his service game after being down 0-30. After that he immideately broke Murray's service to go up *2-0. Unfortuantely he could not keep his service that game and got broken back.
A couple of tough service games for Federer after that as Murray got multiple points to break Roger again. Federer managed to save them all and at 4-3* Murray serving, he did managed to break. At *5-3 Federer served out the set and took the important opening set.

The second set was all Federer. Of course strengthened by the fact that he won the first set he started playing even better. He broke Murray early to take a *2-1 lead. After that Federer held with ease and had a lot of chances to go up a double break. Something he did not do against Del Potro in the US Open final and that cost him dearly. But not this time. Federer was just too strong at this point. He continued his easy service games and won the second set 6-4.

The third set proved to bit a bit more difficult. Murray dragged Federer's quality of game down to his level and had more chances this set. Federer probably lost a bit of sharpness and focus after getting up 2 sets to 0. Murray managed to break Federer after a sloppy game. He went on to take a *5-3 lead and served for the set. But at that time Federer was back in action and managed to rebreak his opponent. Federer and Murray then both held their games to go to a tiebreak.

It turned out to be a long and exciting tiebreak. Murray getting 5 setpoints in total this set. But some relatively easy misses from him and some good play from Federer on those points ensured Murray did not win a set. On his 3rd matchpoint Federer took the match and the championship leaving Murray with his second defeat in his second Grand Slam final.

Federer wins another award!

29-01-2010 13.35

Federer has made it to his 22nd Grand Slam final of his career (a record as well) after destroying Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France: 6-2 6-3 6-2

Federer was in full flight and dismissed the Frenchmen after just 1,5 hours of play. He broke Tsonga 5 times and did not face a breakpoint himself. Even though Tsonga clearly did not have the right game plan, or at least he could not execute it, Federer was still much better in every department and gave the crowd and viewers some incredible shots again.

Federer will now play the final on sunday against Andy Murray. This is Andy Murray's second Grand Slam final. He lost his first to Federer at the 2008 US Open. Let's hope it will be a repeat of that.

The final will be on sunday 7.30 PM local time.

Federer is in his 23rd consecutive Semi Final in a Grand Slam after beating in form Nikolay davydenko: 2-6 6-3 6-0 7-5.

It was going to be a tough day against Davydenko, a player who had not yet lost this season. And from the beginning it was. Federer simply had no answer to Davydenko's fast and perfect game until he was down 2-6 *1-3 and multiple breakpoints to go 1-4 behind.
He managed not to get broken that game and all of a sudden things turned around, big time.

Federer won the next 13 games in a row to lead 2-6 6-3 6-0 2-0* before Davydenko finally managed to win a game again. An extraordinary turn around. For a while there it looked like Federer was going to be 2 sets to 0 down, but like the fighter he is, he hung around and managed to turn things around.

Federer did get broken back by Davydenko in the fourth and was down 3 BP's to go down 3-5* but with 5 perfect serves he managed to get out of that situation. He then broke Davydenko himself to serve for the match. He had matchpoint but out of nowhere Davydenko produced 3 brilliant return winners of off Federer's first serve and broke back.

Federer then broke Davydenko back after a long game. This time he managed to serve out the match and continue his quest for his 4th Australian Open title.

Federer will now play the winner of Tsonga - Djokovic in the Semi Final.

Federer has also beaten Australian Lleyton Hewitt (for the 15th time in a row) and is now in the quarter finals. Federer played a superb match wth some brilliant shots to get past Hewitt: 6-2 6-3 6-4.

Federer will now play against Nikolay Davydenko. Federer has lost the last 2 matches against Davydenko. And Davydenko has become pretty cocky about it, also saying Federer (and Nadal) must be scared of him. He also thinks Federer (and Nadal) have no life and he doesn't like it that they order roomservice and not join him at the dinner table.

And yes, this is true. Pfff..

As you can see, I am back. Had a nice holiday. I will try and update some more from now on. Just don't expect it to be on full capacity already.

I know 99% percent of the pictures don't work yet.. Would have hoped this was fixed already.. Just know that the pictures I am posting now will work.

As of know I will try to update the pictures from this year. Starting with the Australian Open.

As you probably know, Federer was in great form today/last night and beat Hanescu in straght sets. After a tough match against Andreev Federer looked very sharp. Of course Hanescu is a much easier opponent vor Federer given the fact that Andreev plays a bit like Nadal. With the high topspin to the backhand. Always a tough opponent when he is on. Look at the 2008 US Open.

But anyway, he won. Here are some pictures from today:
