Federer has taken his 16th Masters Series title by defeating Novak Djokovic in the final, 6-1 7-5.

Federer played as great as he did yesterday. After struggling a bit against Ferrer Federer found his form against Hewitt and later on against Murray. 

Having lost the last 2 matches against Djokovic (remember that awful, awful match at Miami? How much has changed since then...) Federer was due to get some revenge. Just like he got against Murray yesterday.

Federer held his own first service game with ease and made it a really difficult one for Djokovic. A lot of deuces and BP's later, Federer finally broke. The perfect start to a match and especially a final. Federer went on and held his own service before breaking Djokovic again and leading a double break, *4-0. At 5-0* Djokovic got his first game but a game later Federer served out the set with lots of confidence, 6-1.

The second set was a lot different then the first. This time Federer went down 3-0*. But unlike Djokovic he was able to turn things around and get back to level things up, 3-3. Both players went on serve after that with Federer getting some BP's in Djokovic his games and Djokovic getting one more BP. Both players could not take their chances and it looked like we were heading for a tiebreak.

But Federer had different plans. At 5-5 Djokovic serving he got the break he wanted and was ready to serve out the match! He succesfully did so and won yet another Masters Shield. He is now only on Masters title away of equaling Agassi record 17 titles.

Federer great form and months continue with yet another big title. After Madrid, Roland Garros, Wimbledon he now also has Cincinnati!

After easily beating Hewitt yesterday 6-3 6-4, Federer today was much better then Murray, 6-2 7-6 (8)

Federer had lost the last 4 matches to Murray but today there was no sign of Federer losing. He played very aggressive and served well when needed. His percentage was not high and should be higher but at the important points he made his first serve. Also, the forehand was really clicking today.

Murray did not even get a breakpoint on Federer's serve.

In the first set Federer broke Murray at 2-1* making it *3-1. Both players held serve after that so Federer took a 5-2* lead. At that point he again broke Murray to take the first set 6-2 and got to serve first in the second.

In the second set both players held serve until the tiebreak. Some games went easily and some games were a bit tougher. But no breakpoints were given in the second set. At this point the tiebreak had to decide who was going to win the second set.

In the tiebreak Federer took a 3-0* lead. And then a 4-1* lead. Murray came back to *4-3 but Federer took the next point increasing his lead again to *5-3. Murray then took a minibreak back and got to 5-5.

Federer then took a minibreak again giving him matchpoint. He could not take it and Murray came back and made it 6-6. Federer then had another MP at 7-6. Again he was unable to ceonvert and Murray took the lead in the tiebreak: 8-7*. But that was far enough for Federer's taste and he got the next two points. Again MP, Murray serving.

Murray then finally slipped up and made a double fault giving Federer the match!

Federer will now play against either Nadal or Djokovic who will play later today for a place in the final.

Federer is through to the QF after a tough battle with Spaniard David Ferrer. Federer beat Ferrer 3-6 6-3 6-4.

It was not going to be an easy match with Federer not playing that good and Ferrer playing well. Federer was up a break in the beginning of the first set but was broken back quickly after taken the lead. At 4-3 Federer serving Ferrer managed to break him again and all of a sudden he was going to serve for the first set. He did so and got the first set.

In the second set Federer knew he had a tough one on his hands and had to play better. Even though he didn't play much better, he got the break of serve he needed he won the second set with 6-3.

In the third set Federer was still struggling a bit. Ferrer took a service break and Federer had to come up with something else to beat the Spaniard. He did so. He broke back the Spaniard and at 4-4 he broke Ferrer with a brilliant lob ( the point to get to breakpoint was brilliant as well). He served out the match and went through to the next round.

He now plays Lleyton Hewitt in the QF. This match will be second on centre court. Play starts at 12.00 (noon)

Federer is through to the last 16 after beating Argentine Jose Acasuso: 6-3 7-5.

Acasuso, a guy that gave Federer so much trouble at the french this year, never really had a chance this time around. Federer was playing a solid, not spectacular, match. He posted good numbers and got the job done while not wasting much energy.

Federer needed one break in each set and was never broken himself. He only had to fight off 1 breakpoint from the argentine.

Federer will now play against Spaniard David Ferrer tomorrow.
